Division of Natural and Health Sciences Traditional Undergraduate Programs

Divisional information related to persistence and completions is given for all degree seeking students – transfer students and part-time students, as well first-time full-time students; and students who began their studies in either the fall or spring semester of the given year.  The data are organized in two categories:

  1.   Those students who declared a major when enrolling at JBU
Since many students change majors at least once, rates are given for persistence and completion of the original major (first and third columns) and also for persistence and completion at JBU in any major (second and fourth columns).
  2. Students who were enrolled in the given major in their 4th semester at JBU.
While many students change majors, most students have identified with their final major by their fourth semester.  The completion rate of these students earning degrees in the same major is given in the last column.

For example:
Reading across a row in one major for 2006-07 -
Of all students who entered JBU in Fall 2006 or Spring 2007,

  • The first column gives the percentage of the students who began with this major and in their second year (third semester) were still enrolled in the same major.
  • The second column gives the percentage of these same students who were still at JBU (in any major) for their second year (third semester).
  • The third column gives the percentage of these same students who graduated in their original major within 6 years of their first enrollment.
  • The fourth column gives the percentage of these same students who graduated in any major within 6 years of their first enrollment.
  • After the shaded break, the fifth column shows the percentage of students (entering JBU in 2006-07) who were in this major during their fourth semester at JBU who continued and graduated in this major within 6 years of their first enrollment.
