Classrooms

Graphic Design Classrooms

We have two similarly configured classrooms for Graphic Design. We use these rooms for design work, lecture/discussion, and critique of student work. In some classes the student work is printed, matted, and hung on the cork-board wall for critique. In other classes the work is saved as electronic files on the school network, and critiqued through the use of the projector. These two rooms each have space for 24 students. One of the two rooms also has a sink so the room can double as a space for drawing or watercolor.

Theater Classroom

We have one theater-style classroom with 45 seats, a large screen, a projector, and an almost THX rated sound system. This room can be used for lecture-type classes, art history, cinematography, and as a screening room for student digital media projects.

Drawing and Painting Rooms

These two rooms are similarly designed. Both have durable painted concrete floors so we can be messy, plenty of lighting including a variety of options for spot lights, and a sink. The drawing room is currently set up with both easels and drawing horses, while the painting room is outfitted with easels for oil painting or tables and chairs for watercolor classes. Both rooms have many large windows and lots of natural light.

Fine Art Classroom

New in 2009, this room is set up as a fully equipped printmaking studio. Using completely non-toxic methods and materials, it contains a 28” Whelan etching press, numerous screens and vacuum tables for screen printing, and a light exposure unit for working with photo-printmaking processes. This space and equipment allows students to learn and experiment with combining with traditional printmaking techniques with cutting edge technology and image-making.
