A: Even if you think you're a long way away from qualifying for the program, we recommend that you talk with your Advance Program representative, who can evaluate your current credit and help you make a plan to fulfill admission criteria.
We offer electives that meet either on Wednesday or Friday nights or Saturday mornings. Students can also take CLEP or DANTES exams, or take courses from another regionally accredited college or university. (Note: DANTES credit is not accepted for the Education program.)
A: You need a minimum of 124 approved, total hours to graduate with a bachelor's degree from John Brown University. Depending on how many transferable hours you already have, you may need to complete additional hours prior to entering or while you are in the program. Credit hours for our programs are as follows:
- Organizational Management, 48 semester credit hours
- Organizational Management with an emphasis in either Health Care Administration or Business Information Systems, 55 semester credit hours
- Early Childhood Education, 59 semester credit hours
Your Advance Program representative can you help you determine how many hours you need and assist you in developing a plan to obtain any outstanding hours.
A: We accept credits from other regionally accredited institutions as well as approved DANTES credit (Organizational Management programs only) or CLEP exams. It is possible that you may receive credit for other prior learning or professional development experiences. Be sure to speak with your Advance Program representative to discuss your credit hours.
A: In some cases, you may be able to transfer in equivalent courses for our major requirements. Please talk with your Advance Program representative to determine if you have any courses that will replace any major requirements.
A: Course books and materials will be mailed to you.
A: The first step is to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (www.fafsa.ed.gov). We recommend that you submit a FAFSA early in your admission process. The FAFSA is used to determine eligibility for grants and loans. Even if you think you won't qualify for grants, you must complete a FAFSA in order to be considered for Federal student loans.
A. Aid can usually be transferred. Talk with your Advance Program representative to discuss the process for transferring aid.
A: There are currently no institutional scholarships available for the Advance Program. We encourage you to check with your employer, church, social clubs, etc. for outside scholarships to assist you.
A: There are several student loans available to adult students. Contact our Financial Aid Specialist for more information.
A: Students who are enrolled in the Advance Program are considered full-time students, making them eligible for the full award of financial aid. If you have transferred hours into the major requirements or are enrolled in the BIS or HCA emphasis, you will need to consult with our Financial Aid Specialist to determine whether you will be considered a full-time or part-time student.
