2010 European Art Tour - Barcelona and London
In the summer of 2010, Professors Peter Pohle and Bobby Martin led the European Art Tour on a journey through Barcelona and the Spanish Catalonian countryside for a week, then finished up with a second week in London. While in the Barcelona area the group visited Llanca, Spain and Coillure, France—charming little villages along the Mediterranean coast. The Salvador Dali Museum in Figerues, Spain was a favorite stop for the group. The three days spent in Barcelona itself were spent in the Picasso and Miro museums, as well as one full day spent exploring the fantastical architecture of Antoni Gaudi, including a tour of the world-famous La Sagrada Familia cathedral.
The final week of the trip was spent exploring the incredible museums of London, with two day trips squeezed in—one trip to Oxford and Stonehenge, and another to Kelmscott Manor, the country home of Arts & Crafts designer William Morris. Two art and design filled weeks were topped off by a visit to a London musical stage show.
