JUCO transfer with local ties inks with Golden Eagles
Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 19, 2009) — Kevin Hinsey, a 6-4 forward, junior college transfer from Nassau, Bahamas, has signed a national letter of intent to play men’s basketball for John Brown University next winter.
Hinsey, who is no stranger to Northwest Arkansas, played for Fayetteville (Ark.) Christian High School as an international student during his junior and senior years of high school.
As a junior, he helped guide FCS to a Class 1A state title, and as a senior, he led FCS to the quarterfinals of the state tournament.
Before signing on with Jacksonville (Texas) College, Hinsey was named to the Class 1A All-State and Northwest Arkansas All-Area Teams after averaging 24 points and 12 rebounds per contest as a senior.
As a freshman at Jacksonville, Hinsey played in 29 games averaging nearly five points and three rebounds per game while helping his team earn a 21-10 overall record.
“Kevin had a good year at Jacksonville playing for Coach Greg Young,” said JBU men’s head coach Clark Sheehy. “We think he has potential to be a good inside outside forward and are excited to add him to our basketball team.”
Hinsey, who will be coming in as a sophomore, plans to major in sports management.
