As a Founder and CEO of Entrepreneur's On-Ramp, Jim Shankle brings to the classroom a substantial background as an entrepreneur as well as with Fortune 500 companies. His experience includes assembling and leading teams, project management, turnaround management, implementation consulting, teaching, corporate finance, marketing and real estate development. Much of his development work has been with international companies conceptualizing and realizing projects in France, Spain, the U.K., the Caribbean and the United States. Companies Jim has helped start in Northwest Arkansas include Shiloh Technologies and Doing Business in Bentonville, a best practices speaker series for Walmart suppliers.
When in business school and throughout his career, Jim has learned that all business strategy starts and ends with customer requirements, resources and product/market fit. This serves as the foundation for Marketing, Corporate Strategy and Entrepreneurial opportunity. In the classroom, Jim uses examples from his own career to tailor courses that blend theoretical study to real-world application.
Jim teaches MBA Marketing Strategies and Designing & Implementing Strategies for the graduate business program and a new course with Maxie Carpenter on Entrepreneurship. He finds the classroom environment to be both stimulating and challenging and appreciates that JBU students maintain their coursework while concurrently having significant daytime work responsibilities and family obligations.
An advocate of keeping up with the latest trends and because Search is Marketing, Jim introduced Google Semantic Search and Google+ to his students. Consequently, John Brown University became the first institution in the world to teach these game-changing approaches in an MBA program.
