Organizational Management

Why did you choose JBU to finish your bachelor’s degree? I was drawn to JBU because the Christian philosophy and learning environment. Also, the evening schedules were extremely compelling due to their lack of impact on my job.

Is there a circumstance that contributed to finishing your degree at that point in your life? During my 24th year with Walmart, I truly began to reflect on my career. I have been so fortunate and privileged to have received such a phenomenal retail education!  From US and International Store Operations, to Information Systems and Benefits/HR, I have been exposed to some of the most talented people in the world. Even with my continued successful career, I realized that I had a deeper personal desire to finish a goal that I set over 30 years ago - to complete my bachelor’s degree.

How have you changed – personally and professionally – since starting and/or finishing your degree? Personally, I have come to appreciate the gift of time and the importance of making time for family and friends. Professionally, I have learned to utilize my past experiences in conjunction with key learning at JBU to maximize my leadership skills.

How have you applied what you learned in your career? I have learned numerous ways to embed my various career experiences into my day-to-day business practices.

What are your current/future goals? My plan is to carry on with my career in Walmart in order to continue enabling our innovators and implementers into the new age of retail. In the future, I intend to fully utilize the tools of my career and education in order to give back to my community - by serving those that have not had the blessings and opportunities that I have.

Anything else you’d like to share? I would like to thank the staff of JBU Rogers for their patience and professionalism.  Without their thoughtful guidance, I would not have been motivated to enroll in and complete such a wonderful program!
