Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Meal Plan?
A 12, 16, or unlimited (21) meal/week plan is required if you reside in any of the four traditional halls, as well as underclassmen living in the Townhouses, Broadhurst Village and North Slope Apartments. A seven meal plan is required if you reside in the Townhouses or if you are assigned to Broadhurst Village.
Meal Plans allow you to enjoy the convenience of on-campus dining as well as these other great benefits:
- Guaranteed all-you-care-to-eat meals and the flexibility of grab-n-go items
- No worries about carrying cash
- Minutes from great food and comfortable locations
What is a Weekly Meal Allowance?
Your meal plan allows you a set number of meals per week - 12, 16, or 21 (unlimited) meals/week. Your weekly meal allowance gives you the opportunity to enjoy all-you-care-to-eat dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner in Kresge Dining Hall. Each time you eat in Kresge Dining Hall, one meal is subtracted from your weekly meal allowance.
What are Declining Balance Dollars?
These are supplements to the weekly meal allowance and can be used in the California Cafe' only. They work like a bank debit card; each time you make a purchase the total is subtracted from the balance in your account.
Can I treat a friend by using two "meals" in a meal period?
You are the only person allowed to use your “meals” and you can only use one meal per meal period unless you are on the unlimited (21) meal plan. If you are on the unlimited (21) meal plan you can eat multiple times each meal period if you choose. If you would like to treat a friend, you may pay for their meal using your Declining Balance Dollars.
Can I change my dining plan?
We want you to have the best plan for you. You can adjust your meal plan during the first two weeks of the fall and/or spring semesters. To make a change to your meal plan, log onto EagleNet to submit your meal plan change form.
If I don't use all my meals in a week, do they carry over to the following week?
Meals are good for a one week period. They don't carry over from one week to the next. It's key to select the best plans for your schedule and your dining styles so you get the max from your dining plan.
What do I do when my Declining Balance runs low?
Reload! If you run low, you can add to your account using cash, check, money order or credit card. Simply go to the Dining Services Office in Kresge Dining Hall to make your payment.
