Tracy Balzer, Director of Christian Formation
Tracy's responsibilities include working with Rod on chapel, developing Christian formation initiatives for JBU staff and faculty, teaching, leading summer mission trips to Ireland, and mentoring and teaching about spiritual disciplines. She summarizes it by saying that she just wants to help students and staff "connect with God in meaningful, life-changing ways." Her interests include studying Celtic Christianity, visiting tea rooms and ancient monasteries in the UK, calligraphy, journaling, and talking about books and movies. Tracy received her undergraduate degree from Seattle Pacific University, and her Masters of Ministry degree from John Brown University. Her husband, Cary, is a professor in the Department of Biblical Studies. The other important people in her life are their daughter, Kelsey and her husband, Jordan (both JBU grads), and daughter Langley, a student at JBU. Tracy is the author of Thin Places: An Evangelical Journey Into Celtic Christianity (Leafwood, 2007), and A Listening Life (Pinyon Publishers, 2011).
