Mr. William H. Bell graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and later received a bachelor of arts degree from Duke University, a bachelor of business administration degree from Texas A and I University and a juris doctor from the University of Tulsa. He began his legal career with the late John Rogers in 1954. Mr. Bell served as a Fellow with the Oklahoma Bar Foundation, American Bar Foundation, the American College of Probate Counsel and the Southwestern Legal Foundation. Mr. Bell served as Director of the Bank of Oklahoma, BancOklahoma Trust Company and Red River Oil Company and as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. He served as a Director of The Holland Hall School and Hillcrest Medical Center. In addition, he served as trustee for the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation from 1964 until 1988, Trinity University (Texas) from 1967 until 1988, and The University of Tulsa from 1964 to 1988. Mr. Bell was highly involved in civic activities and received numerous awards related to his legal practice, higher education and community involvement including serving as President of the Oklahoma Bar Association in 1978. He served as a member of the JBU Board of Trustees from 1971 until 1988. He was instrumental in helping JBU move from regional to national prominence among small colleges and universities.
