Donor: Estate of Donald L. Boone
Mr. and Mrs. Don Boone's relationship started with John Brown University many years ago. In April 1935, John Brown Sr. was conducting a meeting in Buffalo, NY, at which a girls' trio was singing. Ruth was part of that trio. John Brown Sr. invited the trio to sing at the Bible Conference in June at JBU. While on campus, Ruth wrote to her brother, Earl Scholton, in Erie, PA saying that he should attend JBU. Earl enrolled at JBU that fall and graduated in 1938.
Don grew up in Nebraska and served in the Nebraska National Guard until 1939. He moved to California looking for work during WWII. Don met his wife, Ruth, in Los Angeles, and he worked for North American Aviation. He enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserves as a 3rd class Aviation Metalsmith in 1942. He was stationed in Florida for the duration of the war.
Don obtained a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Houston and then worked for Land Department of Quintana Petroleum Corporation for 36 years. He and Ruth retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas. Ruth died in 1998 and Don died in 1999.
