John A. Graves Endowed Scholarship
Donor: John and Anna Berwick
John Graves graduated from John Brown University in 1927. He was a long-time resident of Siloam Springs and retired as a U.S. postman for Siloam Springs in the early 1970’s. He was a cattle rancher and a former member of the Rotary Club and a member of First Baptist Church. He made his home in Siloam Springs where he and his wife Hazel reared and educated their seven children. Four of their children and three of their grandchildren earned degrees from JBU. The other children also studied at JBU for a few semesters before going on to other schools for higher education. Mr. and Mrs. Graves contributed to a total of almost 40 years of higher education for their own children, and scholarships were a real help. It was Mr. Graves’ intent to assist students who exemplify the values and standards taught and promoted at John Brown University. John passed away in 1998.
