Type: Endowed

Donor: Ed Hutton

Established: 1998

After serving in the US Navy James Edwin Hutton graduated from John Brown University in 1948 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.   James loved to fish and travel; he visited all 50 states in his lifetime.  After college, he moved to Midwest City in 1952, where he was employed by WKY RADIO/TV as an audio engineer.  After working at WKY, he began his career in the civil service as an electronics engineer at Tinker AFB.  He retired in 1990. In 1956, he married Bernice Oneta Coley and in 1957 their only child, Elaine Ann Hutton was born.  James and Bernice loved and appreciated JBU and wanted to help students without sufficient resources to attend.  They have often recommended that their nieces, nephews, and friends attend JBU because of the Christian environment.  Bernice went to be with the Lord in 1999 and on April 18, 2009 James passed away at the age of 84.
