Leonard Family Eagle's Nest Endowed Scholarship
Donor: Estate of Billy Jack Leonard
The Leonard Family Eagle’s Nest Endowed Scholarship was created by Billy (Jack) and Catherine (Frances) Leonard. Purposefully, they chose JBU to re-invest God’s financial blessing to educate the “head, heart, and hand” of future generations. They realized God had given them favor and blessing so that he can bless others through them. The Leonard family believes the Lord’s promise of strength will help God’s people rise above life’s challenges, Isaiah 40:31.
Jack graduated from the Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri. He retired as an administrative manager with 36 years of service at IBM. Frances graduated from high school in Marengo, Iowa. She worked as a bookkeeper until her children were born. Later, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. As a couple they served in the Gideon’s International with Jack being a National Zone Trustee.
The Eagle’s Nest theme was chosen because Jack and Frances enjoyed eagles--how they nurture a family from nesting to soaring. Their son John earned his Eagle Scout rank, married Pam and lives in Westminister, Colorado. Both Catherine (’80) and Carmen (’85) are graduates of JBU, the golden eagles, and live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Carmen is a CPA married to Roger with two children, William and Sarah.
