Scofield Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Friends and family
Dr. William Scofield, who served JBU as Director of Choral Ensembles from 1980 to 1987, suffered a heart attack on July 2, 1988, and died at the age of 37. The intensity, with which he approached every aspect of life, from his love for his wife and children to his incessant desire to take his students to the “heights” of chorale music, is an on-going example to all. His level of commitment, both in and out of the classroom, to the academic and personal development of his students, was only surpassed by his personal commitment to excellence for the glory of God. In tribute to the life and work of Dr. Scofield, choral alumni and friends created this memorial scholarship to assist deserving students in the field of music education.
