Merwin A. and Verne K. Wilder Endowed Scholarship

Type: Endowed

Donor: Ruth and Charles Hartman

Established: 1984

Around 1902, Rev. John Brown was the evangelist for a series of meetings in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, of which Merwin Wilder attended.  He was twelve years old at the time and sang solos and was accompanied by his sister on the piano.  During that summer, Merwin joined Rev. Brown’s team as a soloist.  Merwin was very impressed with John Brown and the mission of the university.  Merwin’s niece created this scholarship in memory of Merwin and his wife, Verne.
