Director, Student Support Services

John Brown University seeks a Director of Student Support Services. Responsibilities include but are not limited to oversight of the TRIO program (TRIO is a federally funded grant program that serves low-income and first-generation college students and college students with disabilities), directing services for students with disabilities, and committee assignments. This is a full-time position with faculty status. Reports to the Associate Dean of Academic Services.
The Office of Student Support Services works with the faculty to identify and assist students with academic need. The TRIO Grant was awarded to John Brown University in 2005 and is designed to serve 160 students which include approximately 30-40 students with disabilities. The Office of Student Support Services also oversees academic assistance for all undergraduate students.
A Master’s degree in a concentration relevant to Student Support Services program, such as Education or Psychology, is preferred. Five or more years’ experience working with low-income, first generation college students or students with disabilities is preferred, along with two or more years’ experience in program and fiscal management. Experience in higher education for at least four years is preferred. Good written and oral skills are essential as well an ability to lead a team. A commitment to Christian higher education is essential.
A competitive salary exists which will be commensurate with training and/or experience.
