International Students and Studying Abroad
The International Programs office oversees two key aspects of JBU life: incoming international students and outgoing study abroad and missions programs.
If you are an international student or a missionary kid, welcome! International students make up about twenty percent of JBU’s student body. JBU offers a variety of programs to make international students feel at home on campus. Please feel free to explore the sidebar for more information about international admissions, student life, financial aid, and FAQs. Don’t hesitate to contact Christa Slagter, international admissions counselor, with any questions you may have.
At JBU, we believe that international studies are important for growth as students and Christians. We offer several different study abroad programs for students interested in taking classes overseas. Check out the sidebar on the left for information about JBU’s summer and semester-long programs, including JBU’s Ireland semester. JBU also partners with the CCCU and other institutions to offer study abroad programs in areas such as China, England, Lithuania, and Australia. Explore our website or contact Melissa Stevenson, International Education Coordinator, for more information.
The International Programs department of John Brown University has a two-fold mission. First, we seek to identify qualified international students who will benefit from and contribute to the multicultural environment of JBU, and to encourage international students at JBU in their pursuit of a holistic education according to JBU’s motto of head, heart, and hands, with the goal of producing loyal and productive JBU alumni.
Second, the International Programs department strives to broaden the JBU experience through the International Studies and International Missions programs. We seek to produce Christ-centered and globally-aware students who can engage with people from all backgrounds in order to impact the world for Christ.
