CCCU Australia Studies Centre
As an ASC student, your base of operations will be in a very special institute tucked into the heart of cosmopolitan Sydney, Australia.
Wesley Institute offers ASC students a catalog of courses dedicated to visual arts, drawing, theater, dance, ethnic music as well as considerable choices drawn from youth and urban ministry and theology.
Students will participate in the daily life of the university the same way any other student would. Clubs, sports, plays, concerts and student life activities are all available to you.
The electives you choose will make up about 12 of your 16 hours of credit.
Just imagine wrapping up your day's reading with the ocean and the famous opera house in the background. Imagine discussing the development of the Aborigine community with the men and women who are working for their equality. Imagine feeling the heat reflecting off the red clay soil in the Outback as you hike with friends in a national park. Imagine serving the marginalized of Sydney through service learning and solidarity.
The Australia Studies Centre is designed to be more than just a visit to an Australian university. You will participate in courses held at the university, in class with other Australian and international Christian students, and you will have seminars designed to connect you to the soul of Australia.
Through travel and encounters with aboriginal peoples, their music and traditions you'll see an ancient Australia. You'll visit the capital city of Australia, Canberra, to get a feel for the contemporary political, social, economic pulse of the country. You'll participate in the relief efforts of Wesley Mission in the neighborhoods of Sydney.
The experiential seminar Australian History Culture & Society will make up 4 of your 16 hours of credit.
