CCCU Los Angeles: Film Studies Center
Do you get thrown out of movie nights because you can't quit analyzing the flick? Do you compare today's moneymaker to the classics? Do you find yourself talking about directors as though you know them personally? Do you think in movie quotes? Have you ever said "pan left" before making a left turn? Perfect. You are the passionate filmmaker this program was made for! The Los Angeles Film Studies Center can give you the skills, resources and community to let your passion grow. For more information, check out Bestsemester: LA Film Studies.
Students live in the Park LaBrea Apartments, a gated apartment community located in downtown LA, near museums, shops, restaurants, and internships. LAFSC schedules sightseeing tours to tourist attractions in the greater Los Angeles area, as well as optional activities more specific to the film industry. Students should budget a considerable amount of money for food and living expenses. Funds will be needed to cover local travel expenses to and from internships, laundry, movie-going and other social and tourist activities.
Note on transportation: It is almost impossible to live in the Los Angeles area without an automobile. Students should give serious consideration to bringing their own vehicles. Those without a car may be severely limited in their internship possibilities and may feel hampered in their ability to shop, sightsee, and otherwise get around.
