There are an overwhelming number of decisions when it comes to choosing a mission agency that best matches your values and goals in ministry. These are Interdenominational, Christ-based ministry programs unless otherwise specified. (Links to web pages are given but it might be more helpful to ask for more info by mail) Remember that you are leaving the John Brown University website by following any of the links.

ACTS
A contextual ministry school for criminal justice settings, associated with Taylor College. 

AMF International
Training in Jewish evangelism, positions in Israel and the US.

American Missionary Fellowship
Targets the inner city, minorities and children, establishing churches in US communities with no witness. (Faith-based)

Americorps
Domestic Peace Corps, tutors at-risk youth, builds houses, cleans up after Natural disasters. (Not a Christian organization.)

Arab World Ministries
Mainly in Western Europe, North Africa, Middle East; focus on building fellowships through creative access and media. (Faith-based)

Associating of Baptists for World Evangelism
In 45 countries, must be a member of a Baptist church.

Association of Gospel Rescue Missions
Employed staff and volunteers enable the homeless of US cities in a variety of ways. Also, good tips on how to interact with homeless people you come into contact with.

Awana Clubs International
In all 50 states and over 100 countries, work with children and youth.

Bethanna
A network of children's homes offering social services, family support, adoption and foster care in Pennsylvania. 

Bible Centered Ministries
In the US and 45 countries; evangelism and church planting through bible clubs, camping ministries, compassion ministries to people with disabilities, bereaved families, street children.

Biblical Literature Fellowship
Christian publishing house in Europe; offers internships, short-term opportunities and two-year couples to host short-termers. 

Black Forest Academy
A boarding school in Germany for missionary kids; needs teachers, dorm parents, counselors, etc. (Faith-based)

Calvary Commission
Prison ministry in Texas with a training/equipping program for e-inmates; also a missions training school with outreaches to Mexico and Romania.

CAM International
Latin America, Spain and the Hispanic USA; Short-term and career: church planting, leadership training, radio broadcasting, camping programs, medical and dental, Bible translation and distribution.

Campus Crusade for Christ International
Focus on church planting through evangelism and discipleship to communities, especially college students but adapted for each area, 172 countries. (Faith-based)

World Venture
Targeting cities in the 10/40 window to plant churches and raise up national leaders. (Faith-based)

Childrens Haven International
Providing loving Christian care for needy children of Mexico. (Faith-based)

Christian Mission for the Deaf
Providing community for and sharing the Gospel with the deaf of Africa. (Faith-based)

Christian and Missionary Alliance
An evangelical denomination that is planting churches in 67 countries around the world with refugee relief, radio, community development, medicine and  teaching English. 

Christian Outreach International
Using sports, performing arts and English classes to reach people in Eastern Europe and South America. Lots of summer opportunities and a Missionary Training School. 

CityTeam Ministries
This organization serves the poor and needy of cities. Ministries include kids camps, emergency shelter, food, clothing, addiction recovery, and spiritual growth. (Faith-based) 

Compassion International
Exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.

Cookson Hills Christian Ministries
This is a children's home organized in family groups on a large campus in NE Oklahoma. Staff needs include houseparents, teachers and support-staff.

A Door of Hope Ministries
Offering Bible-based counseling, seminars and residential programs for women wanting to walk in victory over their past. Based in Portland, TN.

Emmanuel International
Canadian agency assisting local missions-minded churches  in 9 countries in South America, Africa and SE Asia. Various positions everywhere and a hands-on summer study in Haiti.

Far East Broadcasting
Missionary radio broadcasting in 150 languages on every continent! Help FEB short or long term with skills in broadcasting, computer technology, staff support etc. (Faith-based)

Flagstaf Mission to the Navajo
The site is not much to look at but  it gives contact info. for anyone interested in taking group missions trip to Arizona to work on the reservation.

Food for the Hungry
Working in Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America to relieve physical and spiritual hunger through child sponsorship, health education and community development.   

Friends of World Teaching
Provides interested teachers with information about high school and college teaching opportunities around the world.

Global Advance
Seeking to empower national leaders, encourage national churches and enlist prayer support. Volunteering opportunities are mainly at the home office in Dallas.

Global Outreach International
This site is under construction but there is contact info. for anyone looking for a basic, support-based mission agency. 

Gospel for Asia
Focusing on the 10/40 Window with radio, literature, training centers for nationals and church planting. (Faith-based)  Sign up for a free email account at their website!

Greater Europe Mission
Europe is the only continent where the church is declining. GEM is planting churches and establishing bible colleges, working with refugees and more. (Faith-based) 

HCJB World Radio
Broadcasting in over 100 languages around the world. Headquarters in Quito, Ecuador also have medical outreaches. Summer internship programs available. (Faith-based)

Helps International Ministries
Based in North Carolina, this is a "mission to missions" that provides technical support, engineering and construction services and training to other mission agencies. 

Initiatives International
Initiatives International is an inter/nondenominational organization that provides full service cross-cultural experiences for individuals and groups interested in partnering with ministries around the world through short-term mission trips and educational opportunities that are mutually beneficial to hosts and visitors.

Institute for International Cooperation and Development
This European-based company (not a traditional mission agency) equips third-world development projects, primarily through information and communication technology.

Inter-American School
A Christian K-12 school in Guatemala. Over 90% of the students are Central American, all classes are taught in English. Small stipend provided. 

International Mission Board
Southern Baptist organization around the world with an extensive short-term options for students and ways to be involved from home. 

International Sports Federation
Short-term teams of sports-lovers assist Southern Baptist missionaries through IBM (above) with clinics, tournaments and witnessing at sporting events. (Faith-based)

International Students Inc.
This organization partners international students with volunteers who are willing to include them in everyday activities. Area coordinators that oversee volunteers must raise support. 

International Teams
Strongly based in the importance of Community, IT seeks to make disciples in Europe, Asia, South America around the world through refugee ministries, church planting and young-adult outreaches.  Their "urgent needs" section is challenging and there are great short-term opportunities as well. Interserve International
Focusing on South and Central Asia, North Africa and the Middle East, Interserve needs Agriculture, Medical, Computer workers, etc. to proclaim Jesus as Lord. (Faith-based)

Japan Mission
Seeking to strengthen and network the existing churches in Japan. Ministries include audio/visual support, English evangelism, International School, Evangelistic crusades and Bibles for China. (Faith-based)

Jews for Jesus
You don't have to be Jewish! Involved in college campus outreach, music and drama ministry. Internships are available in web design, video production, journalism, mission administration, etc. at their headquarters in San Francisco.

JAARS
Partnering with other missions such as Wycliff and SIL to supply technical needs in computing, aviation, maintenance of equipment, vernacular media, engineering, etc. 

Latin America Mission
Collaborating with local churches in evangelism, theological education, medical relief, youth camps, children-at-risk work, micro-enterprise development and emergency response. 

Missionary Aviation Fellowship
Supporting missionaries with aviation and communication technology assistance all over the world.

Mission to Unreached Peoples
A ministry of church planting in closed countries through vocational skills, University ministry, Relief/Development, ESL, and medicine. Short-term opps and Internships available. 

Missionary Tech Team
This Texas-based organization supports missionaries by providing architecture, engineering, graphic communication, computer programming and web design. 

North America Indian Ministries
Sharing the love of Jesus with Native Americans across the Northern US and Canada through rehabilitation and counseling services, outdoor camps, urban ministry, development and discipline. Summer internships available at camps and drop-in center. 

Navigators
Focusing on relationships and small-group bible studies, Navigators has an extensive ministry to various groups of society, both in the US and around the world, including 24 of the 44 Islamic countries and 30 of the 59 in the 10/40 window.

Network of International Christian Schools
The Network of International Christian Schools presently operates several American-style, English-speaking Christian schools in 15 different countries around the world. Most teaching positions are salaried. NICS is seeking to find committed Christian educators to reach the children of the International community in major cities overseas. While many Christian schools in the USA seek to minister primarily to Christian families, the NICS schools overseas also, have a tremendous outreach, to the non-Christian community. It is not unusual for a teacher to sees 30% of his/her students accept Christ in a year's time. A typical NICS classroom may have students from 5-10 different nations. Our motto is reality: "Our classroom…is the World!"

Missionary Gospel Fellowship 
Seeking to reach all of North America through migrant worker ministry, prison ministry, youth camps, hospital chaplains, Mormon cult ministries.

New Tribes Missions
Planting churches and translating the Bible in isolated tribal groups where there is no Gospel witness. Needed skills: aviation, medical, publishing, technical, education... (Faith-based) 

OC International
Team approach to establishing witnessing churches within physical and cultural proximity of every person. Five continents, 22 countries; various ministries. (Faith-based)

OMS International 
Operating 26 Bible Schools and a radio station; working in Haiti, Mozambique, 3 South American countries, Russia, Hungary, Spain, Ireland, 5 Asian countries. (Faith-based)

Operation Mobilization
Actively planting churches, but professional skills are needed. Emphasis on the 10/40 window. "Global Action" is their great 1-2 year practical missions learning experience. (Faith-based)

OMF  (started by Hudson Taylor as China Inland Mission)
Reaching South Asia (China, Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, etc.) with various tools.  Lots of summer and short-term opportunities. (Faith-based)

Pioneers
Focusing on church planting among unreached peoples, always with a team. Great summer program. They are willing to start new teams for any unreached people you are burdened for! (Faith-based)

Radio Voice for Christ
Reaching rural Alaska with the Gospel of Jesus Christ by radio. Needed: construction, aviation, broadcasting, programming, accounting, etc. (Faith-based)

Rio Grande Bible Institute
Training center for Latin American church leaders, Spanish language school for prospective missionaries, Radio Esperanza, and retirement home. (Faith-based)

Samarian's Purse
Meeting the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Send International
Summer and short-term, year-long or lifetime opportunities in evangelism, church planting, teaching MKs, and US internships. Mostly in Eastern Europe and Asia. (Faith-based)

SIM
Reaching out to unreached people groups in 20 countries through healthcare, education, relief/development, and church planting (Faith-based) 

Slavic Gospel Association
Russia and the CIS span 11 time zones and have a population over 300 million, but there is less than one Christian per 10,000 people. SGA equips local churches, supplies humanitarian aid and disciples orphans. (Faith-based)

Source of Light Ministries
A printing ministry for evangelistic and discipling materials. (Faith-based)

STEER, Inc.
This is an agricultural missions fund-raising program that raises money from missions by having donors invest in farmers and ranchers who donate feed and service. 

Summer Missions Institute
This eight-week program to the Native peoples of western Canada focuses on building relationships in your choice of focus areas. Cost is $900, deadline March 30.

TEAM
Planting new churches in 40 countries. They also offer workshops in Wheaton, Il for anyone wanting to learn more about missions and how to respond to the calling. (Faith-based)

Teen Challenge
Reaching to communities in the US with school programs, prison ministry, youth centers and support groups to overcome life-controlling addictions.

Teen Mania
Hosts "Acquire the Fire" dome events, mission trips to over 30 countries, and a one-year program for leadership/character development. (Faith-based)

Teen Mission (for adults too)
Operating missionary training schools, orphanages and a variety of evangelistic ministries needing workers! Gather a team and they'll organize the details for your trip. (Faith-based)

Tentmakers
Offers leadership training for church laity, to increase confidence, relational ability, and other skills, thus making them more apt to lead. Also offers Youth Ministry training.

Trans World Radio
Besides broadcasting the gospel to the remotest parts of the world, TWR has an Asian women's outreach, prison ministry, short-term teams and more. (Faith-based)

Trinity Missions
Offering short-term to lifetime volunteer opportunities to reach the poor of the Americas. A ministry of the Catholic church.

UFM International
Targeting the frontiers of unreached people groups in 22 countries. Muslim refugees in Bosnia, Amazon tribes, Chinese students, Indonesian artists, etc. (Faith-based) 

United Mission to Nepal
Serving the underprivileged of Nepal through Education, Engineering and Industrial development, Health Services, and Rural Development. (Faith-based)

Venture Teams International
Canadian company using drama, chalk art, music, puppets, one-on-one sharing, etc. around the world on short-term trips. (Faith-based) 

WEC International
Drug rehab, child restoration, international schools, easy English magazine, and Radio broadcasts in much of Africa, Asia and Europe, and some in Latin America. (Faith-based)

Word of Life
Operating a Bible College, several camps and conference centers and sending short-termers around the world to experience cross-cultural missions. 

Word Made Flesh
Ministering among the poorest of the poor with an incarnational approach and community emphasis. Hands-on semester internships in India, Romania, Brazil, Peru... (Faith-based)

World Gospel Mission
A variety of ministries around the world. Summer short-termers and interns teach, disciple, counsel, help with agriculture, clerical work, VBS, etc. (Faith-based) 

World Impact
Planting churches in urban America through Bible clubs, camps, schools, medical clinics, job training, sports camps and emergency relief. They need your skills! (Faith-based)

World Vision
Providing hope and help to anywhere a natural disasters, or humanitarian emergency has put lives at risk. Child sponsorship program and  resources on world justice issues. (Faith-based)

World Team
Planting culturally relevant, multiplying churches among the unreached through a variety of outreaches around the world. (Faith-based) 

Wycliffe Bible Translators
Working currently in 70 countries, seeking to have started Bible translation in EVERY language by 2050! Lots of short-term opportunities as well, and language classes for credit through SIL International. See the site for great world-wide prayer requests. (Faith-based) 

Young Life
Healthy, creative fun for middle school and high school kids in 550 US communities and 36 countries with a relational approach. Also operates 24 summer camps.  Mostly volunteer.

Youth for Christ
Cross-cultural mission trips, outreach to US campuses and ministry internships. This site also has a jobsearch for paid positions in ministry. 

Youth With A Mission
Begins with a discipleship training school (DTS) at a base followed by a 3-6 month outreach around the world. There are a variety of opportunities for further ministry or training after this. Evangelism through dance, drama, skating/biking, medicine, and more. (Faith-based) 

Youth Works
Crossing borders of race and culture with service projects in cities, on reservations and in rural areas of the US. Summer staff needed.
