Facilities

The Chemistry Department makes multiple lab environments available to students. Each lab has a different focus and is equipped to enhance learning in a specific area. The Chemistry labs include the General Chemistry Lab, the Organic Lab, Advanced Lab, used for biochemistry and analytical chemistry, Instrumental Lab, used for analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, and organic chemistry, and a research room.

Chemistry Lab 1 These labs are equipped with some of the latest technology in the field, and all equipment is made available to students in the classroom and for undergraduate research. Equipment available includes, a UV-Vis spectrometer (UV-Vis), IR spectrometer (IR), atomic absorption spectrometer (AA), potentiostat, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer (NMR), high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

Chemistry Lab 2 Experimentation is the nature of the science of Chemistry, thus the opportunity for hands on experiments in the lab is integral to the Chemistry program. The chemistry department has every major piece of equipment necessary for a well-rounded undergraduate degree in chemistry or biochemistry. With hands-on experience with the equipment, students will be well positioned to enter graduate school or the workforce.
