Why study Philosophy?

Recent articles in The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Business Week, The New York Times, and The Guardian have highlighted the benefits of, and interest in, philosophy majors.[1]

Philosophy majors score higher than every kind of business major on the GMAT, and higher than any kind of prelaw major on the LSAT. [2]

On the GMAT: Not just slightly higher, but 15% higher than all business majors.[3]

Boost your GRE score. In a three year study (2001–2004), people taking the GRE to study philosophy scored highest in verbal reasoning (ahead of even English majors) and highest in analytical writing (ahead of engineering majors) and scored high in quantitative reasoning (ahead of accounting majors).[4]
