Mechanical Engineering
Position
John Brown University seeks a faculty member in Mechanical Engineering to begin August 1, 2009. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching courses in several mechanical engineering areas such as design, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and/or dynamics.
Program
The Department of Engineering offers an ABET accredited engineering program with electrical/computer and mechanical concentrations. The Engineering Department strives to educate students in the application of science and technology to the service of God and humanity with the goal of producing graduates who can begin effective engineering practice in industry, graduate school, or the mission field. The Department of Engineering is housed within the Division of Engineering and Construction Management. The Division offers Bachelor of Science Degrees in engineering and construction management.
Qualifications
Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering preferred, masters required. Effective teaching experience, evidence of scholarly potential and a passion for teaching and spiritual formation within the evangelical tradition is essential. Candidates should be willing to contribute to university life in areas such as academic advising, recruiting for the major, and committee service. The candidate should also be able to clearly articulate the integration of the Christian faith and science.
Salary
A competitive salary exists which will be commensurate with training and/or experience.

Position begins August 1, 2009. Screening process begins October 15, 2008, and continues until the position is filled.
