Worship Ministries
Position
John Brown University seeks a full-time instructor in Worship Ministries to provide leadership for a thriving Worship Ministries program now in its sixth year. Three-quarters of the position is devoted to teaching and advising Worship Ministries majors and one-quarter to working with the university chapel program.
Program
The Worship Ministries program at John Brown University effectively combines three elements that are crucial to modern Christian worship: musical excellence, practical training in contemporary worship, and a theological foundation for worship. Worship Ministries is housed in the Music Department but also includes a substantial element from the department of Biblical Studies. Students can earn a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Worship Ministries.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in music or comparable training and experience required. Candidates should have 5-10 years of documented successful experience in leading worship. Appreciation for, and experience with, a variety of worship styles is required. Seminary training and previous teaching experience are desirable. Candidates must be able to work across denominational boundary lines. A passion for teaching and spiritual formation within the evangelical tradition is essential. Candidates should also be willing to contribute to university life in areas such as academic advising, recruiting for the major, and committee service.
Salary
A competitive salary exists which will be commensurate with training and/or experience.

Position begins August 1, 2009. Screening process begins October 15, 2008, and continues until filled.
