Family and Human Services
Position
John Brown University seeks a faculty member to teach undergraduate students in Family and Human Services and Biblical Studies. Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching introductory and advanced courses in Family and Human Services as well as introductory and/or capstone classes within the Biblical Studies Division as part of the university’s core curriculum.
Program
The Department of Family and Human Services seeks to equip students with biblical and professional knowledge and practical skills for service and ministry. The Family and Human Services curriculum provides theological, theoretical, and practical training. The Division of Biblical Studies is one of the largest undergraduate divisions at JBU with fifteen faculty members and over 200 majors.
Qualifications
An earned doctorate in social work, counselor education, marriage and family therapy, or a closely related field from an accredited institution, is preferred. ABD’s will be considered. A Masters degree in Bible, ministry, spiritual formation or a closely related field is necessary. Moreover, successful candidates will need to demonstrate scholarly efforts such as professional presentations, publications, and/or service in their field of study.
Effective teaching experience, evidence of scholarly potential and a passion for teaching and spiritual formation within the evangelical tradition is essential. Candidates should also be willing to contribute to university life in areas such as academic advising, recruiting for the major, and committee service.
Salary
A competitive salary exists which will be commensurate with training and/or experience.

Position begins August 1, 2010. Screening process begins November 15, 2009, and continues until the position is filled.
