Engineering Technician
Position summary
Responsible for installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of laboratory, computer, prototyping and video equipment used in engineering program. Supports student’s design projects with material recommendations, procurement assistance, and design/build assistance. Team player support to faculty in meeting division and curriculum goals. This position is scheduled to begin July 1, 2010.

- Ability to work with outside suppliers to obtain materials/supplies for department Commitment to the Articles of Faith, Mission, and Objectives of the University; and desires to be a role model for students by demonstrating an active Christian faith in personal example and in work related responsibilities
Position Responsibilities
- Sets goals and objectives consistent with department course needs and accomplishes them without frequent follow-up.
- Works effectively with university IT for computer and software installation and maintenance.
- Monitors and maintains facility security measures during none teaching hours.
- Calibrates and repairs department equipment as needed.
- Support student and faculty projects including videos, displays, lab organization, maintenance of lab supplies and parts, and setup needs.
- Assists student in designs with parts selection, procurement, and practical trades level aspect of design work.
- Research and makes recommendations for new/replacement equipment.
- Other duties as required.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Four or more years of related work with significant experience in usage of complex, computerized electronic equipment, sensor installation and measurement, and prototyping tools/equipment operation and maintenance.
Education
- Associates or Bachelors degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.

- No direct reports.

- Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; stand; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
