JBU Volleyball Signs Kansas Defensive Specialist

Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 28, 2002) — Lisa Chambers of Overland Park, Kansas has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for John Brown University. Chambers played the positions of defensive specialist and outside hitter for Olathe Christian School in Olathe, Kansas.

As a member of the Olathe Christian squad, Chambers earned first team all-conference honors from the Kansas Christian Athletic Association and the team won both the 2000 and 2001 state championship. In addition, she earned first team All Tournament from the National Christian Home School Athletic Association and was a member of the 2000-2001 national championship team of the NCHSAA.

“Lisa has worked hard over the past few years to be able to compete at the collegiate level. She is a great fit to the John Brown University community and we are excited to have her join our team. Her experience with both high school and club volleyball will be an asset as she moves up to participating at the college level. Not only is Lisa an outstanding volleyball player, but she also excels in the classroom as evidenced by her receipt of the Chancellor’s scholarship from JBU,” said JBU Coach Robyn Gordon.

Chambers is the daughter of Chuck and Pamela Chambers of Overland Park, Kansas. She plans to major in Elementary Education or Family Counseling at JBU. Chambers has received the Chancellor’s academic scholarship from JBU.
