John Brown University Swimming and Diving to NAIA Nationals

Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 2, 2004) — The men and women’s swimming and diving teams from John Brown University will be competing in the NAIA National Meet this week in Lawrence, Kansas. The meet begins March 3 and continues through Saturday, March 6.

Seven athletes on the women’s team and 7 men have qualified to participate in the 4-day meet. Women qualifiers include Jenny Brown in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and the 400 IM, Stephanie Burrell in the 50 Freestyle, the 100 and 200 Breaststroke, Kathleen Kubricht in the 100 Butterfly, the 50 and 100 Freestyle, Canda Cottrill in the 200 yard Backstroke, the 500 and 1650 Freestyle races, Mariah Rose in the 200 Freestyle, the 100 and 200 Backstroke, Lindsey Smith in the 50 Freestyle, the 100 Backstroke and the 100 Butterfly, and Rebecca Camfield in the 100 and 200 Backstroke.

The men will also have seven athletes participating which include Nik Hook in the 400 IM, the 50 and 100 Freestyle, Luke Williams in the 100 and 200 Freestyle, Marshall Gooding in the 50 Freestyle, Josh Hughes in the 100 and 200 Butterfly, Brandon Jeffries in the 1 and 3 meter diving, Dusty Woodson in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke and Tyler Cook as an alternative in the relays.

Both the men and women have qualified all 5 relay teams for national competition and the make up of the teams will be determined as the meet progresses. Relay events are the 200, 400, and 880 Freestyle and the 200 and 400 Medleys.
