Golden Eagle Men Swimmers 8th at Nationals

Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 7, 2004) — The John Brown University men’s swimming and diving team completed the 4-day NAIA National Swimming and Diving Championships in 8th place by scoring 87 points. Simon Fraser University was the team champion with 562 points, followed in 2nd by Cal Baptist University with 487 and Spring Hill College in 3rd with 277.

The final event of the meet was the only top six scoring for the team during Saturday evening’s finals. A time of 3:18.94 in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay garnered the team of Nik Hook, Luke Williams, Marshall Gooding and Josh Hughes sixth place.

“The men’s competition was strong throughout the meet,” said JBU coach Brandi Harris following the competition on Saturday night. “It was good to see our guys get into the top six in several events. I am proud of the way they have performed all season and especially the way they did here a the nationals.”
