Women’s Tennis Team Plays Four Matches
Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 6, 2004) — The John Brown University women’s tennis team played 4 matches in the last 4 days, two on their home courts and two at Arkansas Tech in Russellville. Starting with Oklahoma Baptist University on April 1, the Golden Eagles fell to the Bison 2-7. Then on April 3, Evangel University came to town and collected a 9-0 victory over the host team. JBU traveled to Arkansas Tech on Monday, April 5, to play two NCAA Division II schools, Arkansas Tech and Henderson State University. Once again, JBU came out on the short end of the score losing to Tech 6-3 and to Henderson State 9-0.
JBU athletes winning their games in the four matches were Silvy Perkins defeating Ashley Jerige of Oklahoma Baptist 6-3, 0-6 and 6-2 and the team of Perkins and Raynisha Robinson defeating Jerige and Daniel 8-4 in doubles. Perkins also defeated Cherrill Green of Arkansas Tech 6-2 and 6-4. JBU won two other games against Arkansas Tech by default.
The four match losses drop the Golden Eagles to 1-16 for the season. JBU will be in action again on Thursday, April 8 when Southern Nazarene University comes to Siloam Springs for a 1:00 pm match.
