U of A architecture prof wins acclaim
(July 1, 2004) — (Fayetteville-AP) -- University of Arkansas architecture professor Marlon Blackwell scored a big honor for himself and a feather in the university's cap yesterday by having two of his designs included in a leading world atlas of modern architecture. A whole page of the 812-page Phaidon Atlas of Contemporary World Architecture is dedicated to Blackwell's Keenan TowerHouse in Fayetteville. A half of another page shows photographs and descriptions of his Moore HoneyHouse in rural North Carolina. The atlas is used as a premier architecture textbook for buildings constructed since 1998. Phaidon is a leading publisher of art books, including 16 editions of "The Story of Art," a reference guide that has sold Six (m) million copies since 1950. The TowerHouse rises above the trees in the eastern part of Fayetteville. Blackwell says Northwest Arkansas provides good landscapes for modern buildings.
