Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 9, 2004) - The JBU women’s basketball team got a big win over Bacone College Thursday night, winning 65-33. The win moves the women to a 6-2 record for the year.
The score was kept close for the first half, with JBU having the largest lead of 7 with three minutes left in the half. The halftime score was 23-19 JBU. The Golden Eagles opened it up the lead in the second half, scoring 42 points to Bacone’s 14. The game saw many turnovers by both teams. JBU had 21 and Bacone had 38, making it difficult to put many points on the board.
The post players led the scoring for JBU, with junior Kendra McCormick leading the way with 18 and sophomore Ashley Wettengel adding 17. Sophomore Nancy Pierre and Wettengel led in the rebounding category with 7 and McCormick was close behind with 6.
The Golden Eagles are on the road Saturday against Columbia College to close out the fall semester. Their next home game is January 6th against Southern Nazarene, the opening of the Sooner Athletic Conference play.
