JBU Men Lose First Home Game of Season

Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 5, 2005) — The John Brown University men’s basketball team (14-8, 5-6 SAC) lost their first home game of the season Saturday afternoon when they faced the Lubbock Christian Chaparrals. Lubbock is now 2-0 against JBU for the season after this 63-71 victory.

Brandon Cole had five of his total seven threes in the first half to help keep the Golden Eagles within two to go into halftime 35-37. JBU kept the Chaparrals within four points for most of the second half but could not get a lead of more than one point. Lubbock had the largest lead of the game of 10 with :37 seconds on the clock. The Chaparrals made their free throws down the stretch to keep JBU down.

Cole led the scoring for JBU with 27, going 7/14 from behind the arc. Reyjavick De Gracia came close to a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. The teams were both at 42% from the field in shooting. But the Chaparrals made 12/13 free throws with JBU making just 3/6.

The men are back in action Thursday night. Oklahoma Christian will travel to Siloam Springs for the 8:00 p.m. tip-off.
