JBU Women Taken Down by Stars
Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 17, 2005) — The John Brown University women (13-12, 5-9 SAC)) gave a valiant effort to try to overcome the SAC #2 ranked Oklahoma City Stars (21-7, 11-4 SAC) Thursday evening in Siloam Springs. The Golden Eagles had a eight point lead at half, but were unable to hold their opponent off, as the Stars went on to win 53-68.
JBU led for most of the first half, with their largest lead of eight ending the half at 33-25. The home team came out flat in the second half, scoring only two points in the first five minutes and giving up their lead at the 14 minute mark. It was all Stars from then on, with the Golden Eagles only able to get within four before the Stars capitalized on turnovers in the last minutes of the game to win by 15.
Junior Kendra McCormick led scoring for JBU with 16 and also led in rebounds with seven. Nancy Pierre had a good showing with 12 points. The usually strong three point shooting Golden Eagles were held to 2/20 from behind the arc. The Stars were led by Mariam Sy with 15.
JBU is home again Saturday facing St. Gregorys. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
