Advance Classes Offered in Bentonville
Siloam Springs, Ark. (August 25, 2005) — John Brown University is expanding its successful Advance Program to the home office of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in September 2005. The opportunity to finish a bachelor’s degree in organizational management in about a year-and-a-half through the Advance Program Classes is open to all professionals and Wal-Mart associates who are eligible for the program. (Students are not required to be a Wal-Mart associate.) Classes are held one night a week on-site at the Wal-Mart Training and Development Center. The group will consist of working adults who learn from on-site JBU instructors in a seminar-style classroom. “We are pleased to offer our associates the opportunity to finish their bachelor’s degree through this high quality program designed for working adults,” Sharon Bilgischer of the Wal-Mart People Development Division said. “Onsite classes at the home office of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. will help us to better serve working adults in the Bentonville area, ” Phillip Beatty, JBU’s Director of Professional Studies Enrollment said. For over ten years, the JBU Advance Program has successfully helped working adults finish their bachelor’s degree in locations across Arkansas, such as Springdale, Fort Smith, Little Rock, Hot Springs, Harrison, and El Dorado. The idea to bring Advance Program classes on-site came directly from associates who completed their degrees while working full time. “As a father of three children and a full-time working adult, the JBU Advance Program was the best choice for me to finish my bachelor’s degree,” says Dale Henry, an employment advisor for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. “Through the JBU Advance Program, I gained the confidence, competence, and credentials necessary to advance.” To be eligible for the program, applicants must have 60 or more college credits from an accredited college or university, a 2.0 GPA, and be at least 23 years of age. Registration deadline for the Bentonville group is Monday, Sept. 12. To learn more about the JBU Advance Program, visit www.jbu.edu/advance.
