JBU Announces Annual “Toilet Paper Game”

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 25, 2005) — The 2005 NAIA Division I Champion John Brown Golden Eagles will open their 2005-06 season against Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College (Okla.) on Friday, November 4 at 7:00 with the annual “Toilet Paper Game.” In an event that has been a John Brown tradition since the 1980s, fans hurl rolls of toilet paper onto the court after the men’s basketball team’s first field goal of the season. The university expects a packed house at the Murray Sells Athletic Center for the much anticipated event.

“This is one of the finest traditions in small college basketball,” head coach John Sheehy commented. “It’s our answer to ‘Midnight Madness.’ It signifies that basketball season is here. We hope to have lots of excitement and a big turnout.”

In addition to being the most unusual photo op of the season, this year’s Toilet Paper Game bears significance as the launching point for the Golden Eagles’ NAIA title defense. John Brown’s schedule is a challenging one featuring a full Sooner Athletic Conference slate and road games against NCAA schools Arkansas-Little Rock and Drury.
