Golden Eagles Knocked Out of SAC Tournament

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 29, 2005) — A 3-2 road loss to Oklahoma City in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament ended the John Brown Golden Eagles’ season Saturday. Oklahoma City scored three goals in the first 23 minutes to establish a lead they would never surrender. Michael Wright scored two goals for the Stars, and Ryan Trudgian added another.

John Brown got on the scoreboard just before halftime when Kyle Carter scored on a corner-kick play, assisted by Daniel Fleming and Griff Hanning. Wesley Chase cut the deficit even further when he scored a header in the 66th minute, but the Golden Eagles were unable to add another goal. A 35-yard penalty kick by the Golden Eagles sailed over the crossbar with seven seconds remaining.

John Brown finished the season 10-7-1.
