Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 7, 2005) - The John Brown Golden Eagles swim team placed second in the Lindenwood November Quad Meet this weekend in St. Louis. John Brown’s 200-yard medley relay team qualified for the NAIA Nationals with a second-place finish of 2:02.37. Jenny Brown, Gabby McCully, Ashley Kenline, and Laura Ravenscroft were the members of that relay. Becca Camfield and Gabe Ives both qualified for nationals in the 1650-yard freestyle. Camfield finished third in 20:06.42, and Ives finished fifth in 20:33.24.
Brown swam the 200-yard freestyle in 2:15.40 and finished second, as did Kenline in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:07.94. In the 200-yard individual medley, McCully took second place in 2:25.56, and Kenline finished third in 2:26.09.
Ravenscroft secured second place in the 100-yard freestyle by swimming it in 1:00.41. In the 100-yard backstroke, Camfield and Ives finished second and third, respectively. Camfield’s time was 1:11.97, and Ives’s time was just over a tenth-of-a-second slower at 1:12.08.
Lindenwood won the meet by taking first place in every event. Lindenwood’s freshmen made significant contributions. Stephanie and Nicole O’Sucha, Ashley Gilbert, and Ann Derousse led the way by participating in seven individual and relay wins. Eureka College (Ill.) and Stephens College (Mo.) finished well behind the host school and John Brown.
