Golden Eagles Dominate All-Region Teams
Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 30, 2005) — Six members of the John Brown women’s soccer team are members of the NAIA All-Region VI first and second teams after the lists were released this week. Junior forward Nikki Ganter of Sachse, Texas, was named the Region VI Player of the Year, and head coach Joe Thoma was honored as the Region VI Coach of the Year.
In addition to Ganter, four other Golden Eagles made the first team. They are sophomore defender Alison Boster of Yukon, Okla.; junior midfielder Amber Aparicio of Allen, Texas; junior forward Crystal Perez of Dallas; and freshman defender Asja DeJong of Colorado Springs, Colo. Sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Wall of Edmond, Okla., was named to the second team.
The Golden Eagles finished the 2005 season as the regular-season Sooner Athletic Conference champions with a 13-6-1 overall record and a 6-1 conference record. They went on to win the Region VI Tournament and compete in the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in the team’s four-season history.
