Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 1, 2006) - The John Brown Golden Eagles were represented well when the Sooner Athletic Conference All-Conference awards were released on Tuesday. Brandon Cole was named the conference Player of the Year. Cody Page received Freshman of the Year honors. Alex Terry was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year along with Oklahoma City’s Dawud Drew. Head coach John Sheehy shared Co-Coach of the Year honors with Oklahoma City’s Ray Harper.
Cole, a 6-1 senior guard from Hector, Ark., received First Team All-Conference and Academic All-Conference recognition in addition to his Player of the Year award. Cole is the nation’s fifth-leading scorer, averaging 21.0 points per game. He leads the nation in 3-point shooting with 125 treys this season and a 4.3 per-game average. His 518 career 3-pointers constitute the all-time collegiate record for all divisions of the NCAA and NAIA. He also holds the John Brown and SAC career scoring records with 2,349 points.
Terry, a 6-1 senior point guard from Cedar Hill, Texas, received Second Team recognition. He averaged 10.4 points and 5.79 assists per game, ranking eighth nationally in the latter category and leading the SAC in assists throughout the season. Terry holds the JBU record for career assists with 709, and his assist-to-turnover ratio this season is 2.3. He forced 23 steals in the 2005-06 regular season.
Adam Workman, a 6-4 junior guard from Cedarville, Ark., was named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention list. He averaged 11.7 points and 4.66 rebounds per game and also made 74-of-198 3-point attempts (37.4%).
Page, a 6-5 freshman forward from Keller, Texas, averaged 8.66 points per game and connected on 58-of-148 3-point attempts (39.2%), ending the regular season ranked fifth in the SAC in 3-point field goal percentage.
