Women’s Tennis Splits in Oklahoma

Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 17, 2006) — The John Brown women’s tennis team split its two matches in Bartlesville, Okla., Thursday. The Golden Eagles fell to Tabor (Kan.) 8-1 but defeated host Oklahoma Wesleyan 5-4.

Erin Holguin was John Brown’s lone winner against Tabor, taking a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Erin Wiebe. Against Oklahoma Wesleyan, Holguin and Nicole Ediger claimed an 8-3 doubles victory over Sarah Coggins and Brenda Gunter. Silvy Perkins and Jennifer Trenchard beat Britney Chappell and Lonna Hunter 8-4. In singles play, Holguin defeated Coggins 5-7, 6-3, 6-2; and Carrie Seay blanked Gunter 6-0, 6-0. Molly Keenan beat Chappell 6-2, 6-4.

The Golden Eagles record is now 4-6. They will play next on March 28 at Southern Nazarene.
