Three Lady Golden Eagles Named All-Sooner Conference

Siloam Springs, Ark (November 18, 1999) — The John Brown University Lady Golden Eagles volleyball team had three players named to the eight member All-Sooner Conference Volleyball Team last weekend. Sophomore middle hitter Amber Squires from Aurora, NE; junior outside hitter Melody Murray from Overland Park, KS; and senior setter Tina Simoni from Manteca, CA were named to the team, as well as to the 12 member All-Independent Team for Region VI.

Squires, who was named to three All-Tournament Teams during the season, had 495 kills with a kill efficiency of 28.3 percent and averaged 3.72 kills per game. Murray brought 459 kills to the team this season with a 31.2 percent kill efficiency, averaging 3.61 kills per game. She was also named to one all-tournament team during the season as well as being named Region VI Player of the Week for the week of November 8th. Simoni had 1515 assists for the season, breaking the school record for career assists. She was named to two all-tournament teams during the season, as well as being named Region VI Setter of the Week twice and NAIA National Player of the Week during October.

The Lady Golden Eagles finished second in the Sooner Athletic Conference this season.
