Women's Soccer Loses at Northwestern

Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 19, 2006) — The John Brown Golden Eagles took a tough 2-1 loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State Tuesday evening in Alva, Okla. After beating Science & Arts on Saturday, the Golden Eagles were searching for their first back-to-back wins this season.

The Rangers took an early advantage in the 5th minute when Jenessa Hunter scored an unassisted goal. Senior forward Nikki Ganter equalized the score in the 26th minute off an assist by freshman midfielder Hannah Toldt, who was making her first start for John Brown. In the second half, Northwestern won the race to break the tie with a goal in the 56th minute by Grace Irvine, assisted by Ashley Guinn. John Brown attempted 8 shots-on-goal to Northwestern’s five. All of Ranger goalkeeper Dana Gandolfo’s 7 saves came in the second half, with the only Golden Eagle shot-on-goal in the first half being Ganter’s score. John Brown junior goalkeeper Natalie Wall, meanwhile, made all of her 3 saves in the first half and only faced Irvine’s attempt in the second.
