JBU WINS 1-of-4 AT HUSKY CLASSIC
Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 14, 2006) — The John Brown Golden Eagles won only one of four matches in the Houston Baptist Husky Classic this weekend in Houston, Texas. On Friday morning, John Brown fell to Texas-Brownsville 3-2. Juliana Todescan had 46 assists, nine kills and 16 digs for the match. Brittany Moon added 15 digs and two aces. Later in the evening, John Brown fell 3-0 to tournament hosts Houston Baptist. Aubrey Junker led the team with 14 kills.
John Brown opened Saturday’s action with a 3-1 win against Illinois-Springfield, but lost senior Juliana Todescan to an ankle injury near the end of Game 4. Without Todescan, John Brown then lost to Loyola 3-0 in their final match of the day. Rachel Melby had 18 assists, and Aubrey Junker had 15 kills. Brittany Moon led the defense with 20 digs, and Christi Newton added five blocks.
Up next, John Brown (12-17, 4-0) will face conference opponent Southern Nazarene on the road, Tuesday at 7:30.
