Women Sweep Day Two of Invitational
Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 21, 2006) — John Brown swept the table in day two of the Blue and Gold Invitational, and finished with an overall tournament record of 3-1. In their first match of the morning, John Brown took conference foe, Lubbock Christian, to five games defeating them 30-18, 30-24, 23-30, 27-30, 15-10. The win sits John Brown on top of the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) with a conference record of 7-0.
Juliana Todescan recorded the teams first triple double of the season after accumulating 10 kills, 50 assists, and 28 digs for the match. She was also supported by Aubrey Junker, Laurae Marty, and Sam Rogoff who had 15, 14, and 13 kills respectively.
John Brown’s second match of the day saw them take on Graceland (Iowa). The match saw both teams push each other to the limit, but John Brown was able to rally together and gain the victory after four games, winning 31-29, 35-33, 32-34, 30-26.
Sam Rogoff led the team with 14 kills and four blocks. Christi Newton had 12 kills and five blocks, and Juliana Todescan totaled 51 assists and 25 digs.
Head coach Robyn Gordon was proud of her team’s effort over the weekend, and also excited about the two conference wins. “This was a great weekend overall,” said Gordon. “Moving to 7-0 in the conference is huge for us and the win over Graceland, when we were exhausted, was a big boost!”
Juliana Todescan and Laurae Marty were both named to the All-Tournament Team.
