Golden Eagles Downed at William Jewell

Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 4, 2006) — The John Brown Golden Eagles lost 74-53 to William Jewell Monday night in Liberty, Mo., and remained winless on the road this season. Down 36-26 at halftime, the Golden Eagles were unable to rally in the second half, and the Lady Cardinals advanced to 9-2 with the win. Senior Tara Stephenson and freshman Amber Vogts both scored 11 points to lead John Brown (3-7).

Senior Nancy Pierre also reached double-figures for John Brown with 10 points, and senior Ashley Wettengel added nine points and six rebounds. Hillary Adams and Erica Ferguson led William Jewell with 16 and 11 points, respectively. Adams made 3-of-5 three-point attempts, and Ferguson led all rebounders with seven boards.

John Brown committed 21 turnovers, which led to 22 William Jewell points, and only made five of its 22 field goals off assists. Shooting was also a problem for the Golden Eagles as they only shot 37% from the field and were only 2-for-17 from 3-point range. The Lady Cardinals, meanwhile, shot 45% overall and nearly 37% from long distance.

The Golden Eagles will play their final game before Christmas Saturday in Columbia, Mo., against Columbia College at 2:00.
