Siloam Springs, Ark. (August 30, 2007) - The John Brown Golden Eagles women’s soccer team won their first match of the season with a 5-0 trouncing of Bacone College (Okla.) on Thursday afternoon. Freshmen ruled the day after scoring all five JBU goals. Siloam Springs native Sarah Kidd had two goals and one assist in the victory.
John Brown took control of the match early on when Alex McMichael found the back of the net in the second minute of the game. Less than ten minutes later, freshman Natiel Bauer would take the assist from freshman Camille Malkiewicz and put it away for goal number two.
Kidd would enter the game in the 30th minute and would make her presence felt immediately after finding Robyn Kluka inside the box for the third goal of the match. Kidd would go on to score goal four unassisted while goal five would come of the assist from sophomore Jodi Knack.
John Brown would enter the half with the 5-0 lead. However, Bacone would step up on defense and would hold JBU scoreless in the second half.
John Brown held Bacone to only three shots on goal for the entire match. Meanwhile, senior Natalie Wall and junior Megan Rouse each had one save for the Golden Eagles. Bacone’s Kindra Houghtaling recorded 11 saves.
John Brown (1-0-0) plays next on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo. against Park.
