Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 10, 2007) - John Brown men’s basketball extended their winning streak to four games on Saturday afternoon after defeating NCAA Division II opponent Northeastern Okla. State 64-59 at home. The win moves John Brown to 4-0 on the year. Sophomore point guard James Manthe had a game-high 17 points for the Golden Eagles. Cody Page also pitched in with 15. Dustin Price led NSU (0-1) with 11. Although JBU only took a two-point lead (26-24) into the locker rooms, they opened the second half on 13-5 run capped off by Manthe’s spinning lay-up at the 11:03 mark. NSU would make a late run in the half after Nathan Young drained his first trey of the game to cut the JBU lead back to twelve, 58-46. At 1:17 left in the game, Ricky Branham nailed his first three-pointer of the night cutting the deficit to nine. After this, Davaughn Jackson got fouled and hit the front end of a double bonus free-throw attempt pushing the lead back to double digits. Jackson finished with four points. NSU came down and found the hot hand Branham, who banged in another three with 55 seconds on the clock. Although NSU began to pick up momentum late in the game, John Brown held on for the win. The Golden Eagles look to remain undefeated when they travel to Lyon (Ark.) on Thursday for a 7:00 p.m. matchup. Earlier this week, John Brown defeated Lyon at home 65-52.
