Waxahachie, Texas (November 17, 2007) - John Brown women’s basketball took on Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) in the final game of the SAGU Pepsi Classic on Saturday night. After a nail-biting finish, JBU walked away with the 57-56 win. The Lady Golden Eagles even up their season at 3-3 with the victory.
With :45 seconds remaining in the game, JBU took a 57-53 lead. SAGU, came down and nailed a three-pointer to bring it within one. John Brown would miss on their next offensive possession. This gave the Lady Lions once last opportunity to score with 2.5 seconds left on the clock. But JBU blocked their attempt to hold on for the win.
Ashley Taylor paced JBU with 21 points and seven boards. As a team, JBU shot 43% to 35% for the Lady Lions. They also out rebounded SAGU 34-32.
John Brown will take next week off but return to action on Monday, Nov. 26 at home against NCAA Division II foe Northeastern (Okla.) State at 7:00 p.m.
